Rev. Ruth MacKenzie’s Farewell Message

Dear Ones,

This Sunday will be my last Sunday with all of you at First Church. I wanted to write a note of thanks for this wonderful year we’ve shared with special gratitude to Rev. Daniel. It has been my great privilege to serve this church with members and staff who push for racial justice, who do the work of governance, who teach children or are children who by nature teach, who seek spiritual depth and meaning, who speak out, who are grieving, who welcome, who witness and minister to one another, who show up at worship either online or in person. Each one of you has blessed my ministry here because all of you together are what makes this place so special. I will sorely miss you. I will sorely miss the beautiful landscapes and natural wonders of Texas. This is the truth. And I miss my home, and my communities in Minnesota. This is also the truth. So it is with a tender heart that I say goodbye and pray for many blessings to flow to and from this church in the days and years to come.

I hope to see you Sunday, for my final sermon, and some good ole fashioned cake following each service.

Love to you all,

Rev. Ruth
