Empire’s Workshop: Latin America, the United States, and the Making of an Imperial Republic by Greg Grandin
Sundays 9:30 – 10:30 AM, October 16th thru December 11th
In this Pulitzer Prize winning book, Greg Grandin examines how generations of Washington policy makers used Latin America as a proving ground for a broad range of diplomatic and military tactics – tactics that were then applied elsewhere as the US became a global superpower. Grandin argues that the origins of many of the current threats to American democracy―disinformation, political extremism ―were foreshadowed in the US’ Central American policy.
