Greetings from Rev. T.J. FitzGerald

Greetings, new friends! I am so excited to be with you. Thank you already for the warm and generous welcome. It has been quite a journey to get to you from across an ocean and a lot of a continent, but I am so glad for the journey and this destination.

I’ve been reacquainting myself with Dallas over the past few weeks. Since I left in 1991, when Ann Richards was Governor and Bryan Adams topped the chart with “Everything I Do (I Do it for You),” a lot has changed. One of the first things I noticed was that there are homes everywhere now. Growing up in North Texas, I remember going to places like Frisco and The Colony and wondering where all the people were. Well, now you can’t miss them. The population of this area has more than doubled since I lived here…and it shows.

Of course, there are many other changes and shifts that have taken place over these thirty years. You might feel some of them, too. In the coming time we will have together, I look forward to journeying together through all that faces us as a community. I look forward to partnering together to face the forces of fear, indignity, and want in our communities. I look forward to holding the hands and the hearts of those of us who are suffering in these times and through these times. In short, I look forward to being here with you and being here for you.

We will get to know one another better in the coming weeks and months. Until then, may you know many blessings of joy and good cheer, and may you find peace in everything you do.

In faith,

Rev. T.J.
