Reading Partners helps children become lifelong readers using community volunteers and lessons tailored to each child’s needs. Tutoring can be done in-person or online. Volunteers are trained to work with students (K-3) who read 6 months to 2 years below grade level. It targets disadvantaged communities and works to ensure all children will have the literacy skills to reach their full potential. Community volunteers are the heart of what we do! Each community volunteer session with a student provides a $28.14 impact to the program.
Reading Partners works. Last year 84% of K-2 Reading Partners’ students developed mastery of the key foundational reading skills needed to read at grade level.
Contributions from First Unitarian will help Reading Partners to:
. provide books to build children’s personal libraries
. fund summer book bags for continuous learning out of school time
. provide access to Reading Partners Connects, online tutoring
. build read aloud libraries
. provide supplies for reading centers
