Texas UU Justice Ministry

Join Our Efforts to Help Bend Texas Toward Justice

Texas Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry (TXUUJM) is our faith’s state organization that focuses on educating and organizing our congregations to advocate for state and local laws to be in line with our UU principles.

Having more than 35 UU congregation members throughout the state, we ally with other social justice organizations to actively engage in efforts that can make a difference in the lives of ALL people. Such efforts include: (1) educating members on social justice issues, (2) creating/sourcing specific actions that increase public awareness of injustice, and (3) holding our elected officials accountable for needed social justice legislation. Social justice issues (and specific examples) include:

Voting & Democracy Voter Turnout, Access to Voting

Healthcare Reproductive Justice, Medicaid Expansion,

Climate Local Environmental Action Plans, Alternative Energy

Racial Equity  Police Reform, Education , Systemic Racism

LGTBQ Equality Gender Affirming Care, Employment Discrimination

Economic Equality Housing Affordability, Incarceration Policies

We work closely with each congregation’s local social justice teams. At First Unitarian of Dallas, the Social Action Council (SAC) coordinates actions undertaken by TXUUJM on social justice initiatives (as well as having SAC members on TXUUJM’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council).
